So, I've got very little else to do (I know, I should be working on the comic but I don't have a table or a chair yet), and my Sims 2 game that I reinstalled ended up bugged fives ways from Sunday. Last night I tried to play, and when I finally forced a quit and restarted, something happened such that the character I had just moved into an empty lot just stood next to the mail box and spun around spastically in circles as her portrait flipped through all its possible moods. Very bizarre. I tried again this morning, and ended up with a similar thing happening, though I haven't restarted to see if Tessa Testing spins around in front of her mailbox as well. So I'm writing another entry to post when we get internet.
Shamus tried calling AT&T yesterday for a connection appointment, but then ended up getting shunted to "no one there" hell after waiting on hold for a while. His phone was dying in a bad way, so he couldn't try again, the phones closed at 6, and he was out until 9:30 or 10 last night playing D&D with his coworkers. I had asked him if he would see if someone could offer a drive to Target for us, but he ended up walking there himself instead to buy a lovely grey king sized quilt (HUGE!), two bright coloured dishtowels, a chocolate brown bath mat and hand towel, the shower curtain hooks we so desperately needed, and a pair of kitchen scissors. I was especially pleased with the quilt, as I am not a huge fan of puffy comforters, but I figured I wouldn't nag him about it since he was walking there himself in the dark. He seemed mildly baffled by my delight at the quilt, since he knew I hated comforters, so why would he get one? I was happily much warmer last night, as we slept on the floor, though I am still waiting in anticipation for our mattress to arrive this morning.
My sides feel bruised from sleeping on the floor for two nights, and my obliques and basically every other part of me is sore from biking around all over the peninsula. I am either having a nap, or going for a soak in the hot tub after our furniture arrives. I haven't decided which. I also need to figure out if we need any tools for putting our chairs and table together. We have a screwdriver with interchangeable heads, but unless you count our single metal fork, that's all we have for tools.
Smudge has taken to curling up on top of the fridge when he thinks we aren't looking, which makes him full of badness. We don't want him up on the counters, so I have taken our (gift with purchase of pot set) cookbook and set it up where he jumps. That didn't stop him from jumping up there a few minutes ago to survey the possible alternate routes up, for which he got scolded harshly. Now he's testing me by being up on the bathroom counter, which I don't mind at all. Sprite has also had her share of badness; Shamus was standing in the kitchen waiting for the microwave (preinstalled in our apartment, how weird is that?) to finish heating some poptarts, and Sprite jumped up on the counter to say hello. Instead of hello, she got rudely pushed onto the floor and scolded, so she's all indignant today.
Both of the cats seem to be sneezing less over last night and today. They still seem to be a little sniffly, but Sprite was pouncing at Smudge this morning, and neither of them sound like they're planning to eject their lungs through their noses anymore (which is a substantial relief). DId I mention that they both got a little rounder while they were at the kennel? I haven't switched Smudge back to his diet food yet, since we only have two cans (enough for one day), and we don't even have a measuring cup to use with their dry kibble yet, so there's no point in having any feline circumference reduction happening just yet.
This weekend, we plan to go up to Crate and Barrel and get a set of dishes, and I'd like to go to IKEA again to get a dresser and a set of glasses we saw there on Wednesday. Perhaps we can even get a garbage can (how novel!) while we're there. I need to convince Shamus to buy a bathing suit, since he's going to be jealous of my ability to spend the weekend in the hot tub/pool. We also probably need to hit up Target again for things like a clothes drying rack, some flatware, and some dishcloths.
On top of all this, the thing I planned to get almost immediately for the apartment has not even been looked for. We need to get some cat furniture for our darling furballs so they'll stop trying to use the walls and carpets as scratching posts. We still don't own any cat litter (we got some from the kennel owner when we picked the cats up), though we do have some cat toys that we deemed important enough to bring across the continent. My massage therapist back in Halifax actually got me and the kitties a going away present for my last day, a lovely red suncatcher, and two handknit catnip mice in pink with sequins and camo. Super cute, and Sprite has deigned to actually enjoy them quite a lot. Despite their little colds, they have both been quite playful and lovable, and have even decided that perhaps being brushed isn't the same as being murdered, and maybe they could even purr about it a little bit.
I think I'm going to go make some more tea, and have some cherries while I wait for the delivery people to come. That cereal wasn't especially filling this morning.</cut>
